TO SPIN OR NOT TO SPIN...
The zome will always be able to turn a little bit depending on anchorage and usage. KODAMA™ refers to “spinning” as repeated full rotations of the zome. Generally speaking, most adults prefer no spinning. It is usually most comfortable to swing to and fro while always facing the same direction, and this accounts for the majority of the installations. Therefore, KODAMA™ usually recommends to not install a swivel.
However, if young children will be using the zome unsupervised, it will most likely receive of A LOT of spinning. If this is the case, we recommend you do install a swivel between the zome and the anchor point. Without a swivel, excessing spinning can weaken the hanging components and hasten wear and tear.
Our best advice is for a "no spin" rule in the zome and do not use a swivel. If playing and wildness is unavoidable, go for the swivel.
Adults relaxing = no swivel
Children playing = swivel
We offer the Black Diamond® rotor swivel (rated to 5,800 lbs), extra Quick Link, and Velcro "swivel lock".
